Question: What is a good set a golf irons that have a 3 & 4 hybrid and traditional 5-pw irons?

(Posted by: jwade81 on 2010-07-30 06:05:52)

I recently purchased a set of Nike Slingshot irons. I like that 3 and 4 hybrids, but the other irons are have a wide sole which I do not like. These irons are heavier and I do not swing as fast. What is a good iron set that has a 3 and 4 hybrid and traditional 5-PW irons? Thanks.

Adams golf seems to have really good iron/hybrid sets, they have different sets for different skill levels

Iron weights don't change from brand to brand, at least any more than a few grams or the weight of a sheet of paper. You might check out Adams Golf, but most manufacturers today typically sell their better quality iron sets starting at the 3i (4i in some cases), and then it's up to you to do like the rest of us and use the hybrids you've got and stick the long irons you don't use in the closet.

Please look at the bridgestone irons. the j36 offers iron combinations available from combos to pocket cavities to cavity backs to blades. so an iron set can be mixed up with different combinations of your preference. hope this helps. good luck!

Go with the callaway diablo edge. They have a wide sole but the weight is just right with the graphite shaft.

I played the Adams, and they are average in my opinion. I hit the Mizuno MX100 and loved it, only issue is it comes in a 4 and 5 hybrid rather than 3-4 hybrid, but for the better quality you will get with Mizuno it would be worth looking at for sure. Also, if you swing the 6 and up irons they aren't nearly as wide soled as some of the Nike clubs I have hit. You also get better feedback from these clubs. I like the Diablo second behind the Mizuno, but I think they also have 4-5 hybrid combo. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you!
